Privacy notice: launch RSVP

This notice explains how the Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA) handles the personal information you give us when you RSVP for the launch of the Visit Gauteng app and the Gauteng Marketplace, or when you apply to become a vendor or list a venue.

What we collect

Your name, organisation, role, email address and mobile number, the number of guests in your party, dietary and access requirements, and, for media and vendors, details about your outlet, crew, equipment or products. We also record the time of submission and a hashed form of your IP address to prevent abuse.

Why we collect it

To manage attendance at an event with a fixed capacity, to send you confirmation and event information, to accredit media, and to follow up on vendor and venue applications. The legal basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form.

Where it is stored and who sees it

Your details are stored on this website's server in South Africa. They are seen only by the GTA event team and its technology partner, Mind Interactive, for the purposes above. A notification email is sent to the event team when you submit the form. We do not use third-party form services and we do not sell or share your details for marketing.

How long we keep it

RSVP records are deleted within 90 days after the event. Vendor and venue applications are kept while the application is open.

Your rights

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw your consent. Use the cancel link in your confirmation email, reply to your confirmation email, or write to [email protected].
